Harbour Seal pup, Dom Perignon, was rescued from a Cowichan Bay beach where he lay dying from starvation and dehydration. Even if Dom had been old enough to feed himself, his fractured jaw would have made that impossible. Weighing only 13 pounds (10 pounds under birth weight), and barely clinging to life, Dom received very delicate, around the clock care at Island Wildlife on Salt Spring Island, BC.

This tiny creature epitomizes a wild animals indomitable spirit and will to survive.
