It seems like only the sopranos and tenors are
remembered. The mezzos, the baritones, and
basses rarely get the recognition they deserve.
Thank you for your contribution. I think you are
one of the few people who actually had the
extraordinary luck of seeing his performance.

Oh...yes. I think this was Merrill's 200th MET appearance? A very good live performance. Domingo is wonderful and Cossotto is amazing... Nice post!

#... Met archive has him listed at 789 performances
between 1945 and 1983. Wikipedia says he retired
from the Met in 1976. Quien sabe??? Probably
some New Yorker who saw this performance can
clue me in :-)
