  • Darn good idea brother how's that truck doin by the way Tex?

  • @wazclan1964 Thx dude. The truck is doing good and running strong. Just waiting to build up more cash to sink into it for upgrades!

  • that looks cool. if i build some thing like that i mite mess up lol. but u did good job build that tex. take care.

  • @hudsonman1989 Thx Hudson. All you gotta do is follow the links I gave and you can come up with one you can build relatively cheep!

  • As a film maker and editor, I have to contribute my opinion, the only things I would worry about is chatter because pavement isn't smooth, that is, if you are doing it on pavement, it might bounce around a bit, and smooth pulling, but very nice, have fun with it. I want to make something similar, but it will be on rails.

  • @WesternStar4900SA You are 100% correct. The wheels and bearings are as cheap as you can get along with the tripod head and camera. The slightest rough spot gets amplified with this setup. I will in a few weeks build a 4-6 foot rail system for this or a similar dolly. Thx for the input!

  • This is a good idea that you have here Tex! I think if you could find some softer rubber type of wheel to use might be a bit smoother for this setup. Something like on a potable generator. The ones that look like an ATV tire that is about maybe 6" or so in height. Then deflate the tire pressure a little to give a smoother ride. Just a thought Texy! Keep up the good work young man! *grin*

  • Pretty nifty there Tex

  • You are such an inspiration dude! Thanx for sharing this with all of us. Too cool bro.

  • Very inventive idea!!!

  • @RobWilsonII your from NC arent you? I'm in charlotte i'm sure we could figure out a way to make that happen......lol

  • @593Films I would like to see that project. Sounds neat!

  • Pretty neat Tex! It's not cheap. Cheap people won't spend the money for 1/4" plate. I must say 10 bux ain't too bad for a 1/4" plate from Lowe's. The casters should last for a long time as they are designed for a 100 to 200lb. kid. Just a word about the wingscrews. Try to stay away from the "Foreiegn" hardware. Cheap wingnuts will break in your hand and it may get bloody from there on out.lol. Oh yeah....., where is the Tex-o-decor? It needs flames!

    Awesome setup!

    John

  • I like it!

  • That is cool... I'd like to get some shots of my truck rolling down the highway from another vehicle.

  • Dang good idea brother. And it's compact enough to fit in the smallest of truck cabs too! I may have to build one soon.... cuz I don't see me having the cash to buy a $3000 dolly lol
