@ChaosDynamics Macedonia was a state of ancient Greece, nowadays remains one of Greece’s regions and populated from Greek peoples; the last few years after the break-up of Yugoslavia a new country popped and tries to get a name that connect them with ancient roots.
Anyway, don't mix sugar and salt, the new Macedonia is a Slavic state that has nothing to do with ancient Macedonia, any more than New Guinea in Ocean Pacific related to Guinea in Africa.

With your rationale, it's more likely like Mohicans that considered part of Native Americans and were influenced by America but were more Mohicans! Or like Prussians that considered part of German world, but aren't technically Germans!
I think that if we said that Alexander wasn’t from Greece but from Macedonia is like to say that Napoleon wasn't from France but from Corsica, or like to say that Elizabeth wasn’t from England but from York!

@sorim1967 The problem is not only about the name of the state, but also about the name of the people. If FYROM is named Macedonia, then the term "Macedonian" becomes a national name (something that has NEVER happened in the history of mankind). Then, every Macedonian that has ever lived will be "subsribed" in the list of this nation. You admit that Alexander was Greek (then, "Macedonian" was a local, not national, name). Don't you think it would be unfair for him and for the historical truth?

Fact: Alexander was not a Slav, if anything he was in the periphery of Greece in a state that was Greek in many respects. Modern Fyrom (or Macedonia as it calls itself) has nothing to do with that.
Fact: the modern state of Greec enacted an economic blockade (and then retracted) because FYROM called itself Macedonia. That was unnaceptable. Just because FYROM has delusions of ancient ancenstry Greece was not justified. They should settle along a "northern/southern Macedonia" divide and grow up

The whole truth about the true history of Macedonia is in these 4 videos.
Macedonia is part of Greek history and has nothing to do with this small state that stole the name and history of Greece. Now you know what Macedonia = Greece and not FYROM

Also the argument that Alexander fought Greeks therefore was not a Greek is a stupid argument, such an argument would then mean that both the Athenians and Spartans who fought each other in the Peloponnesian war where not Greeks.
The Slavic population of FYROM arrived a thousand years after the time of Alexander, they have no real links to the ancient Hellenes.

This is attested by the court of Elean hellanodikai who determined the claim to be true, and permitted Alexander I of Macedon to participate in the Olympic Games; something which only Greeks were allowed to do. If the Macedonian's were some other non-Hellenic people then this would not have happened.

Alexander the Great of Macedon was Greek, the rulers of Macedon where from the Argead dynasty. The Argead dynasty traces its lineage from the Southern Greek city state of Argos where it gets its name from. Alexander's mother was Greek, he spoke a Greek dialect, learned of Hellenistic culture and was a promoter of it till his dying day.

1-slavs which from fyrom state people are descended appeared much later than alexander in global history
2-alexander had a greek name, believed in the greek gods was talking GREEK language
3-when alexander defeaded the thebes in the civil war he named himself king of all GREECE
4-Alexander always named his campaign as a greek vs persia campaign
5-in fyrom they talk slavic not greek as alexander did
Anyone who does not see the facts is a victim of a propaganda

To all the FYROM fools - why would a SLAV spread Hellenic culture, Hellenic thought and the Greek language thoughout the known world? Why would a SLAV build temples to the Greek gods?
The answer is a simple one - Alexander the Great was a Hellene, a Greek, as he said so himself more than once.
In almost two decades FYROM has been unable to provide the world with a single piece of archaeological or historical evidence that links the SLAVS and the ancient Macedonian.
You can't prove a lie.
