why wont he play this song LIVE in concert? I tgihnk he played it about 6 times in total.....in later 89/90 and then never again......he can stop playing a fewof the songs he plays over and over and play THIS great gem...

he's right. that's pretty known. see one of the Rolling Stone magazine interviews with him, from a few interview issues back (3 or 4). he tells it.

Thanks for this, power2me5. You may be right. But I don't have the time or inclination to check the interview you refer to. I would need to see exactly what Dylan said before I was convinced.
The song itself provides not the slightest evidence that it is about groupies, am I right?

From O Mercy album '89.Dylan is referring to the women groupies and the shallowness of such encounters in the music life. He cannot even keep their names straight . In Thunder In The Mountain he states that he has has had milk from 1000 cows. Ahh the hardships of Folk Rock celebrity.
