Oliver Wakeman (son of Yes's keyboardist) filled in on keys for this concert, as Starcastle's original keyboardist was unable take part in the reunion. The band put on a GREAT show, featuring numerous songs from their recently released CD "Song of Times", which were fully as good as the classics they performed from "Starcastle", "Fountains of Light" and "Citadel". It's great to see the band back in action, after being off the scene for twenty five years!

Note: My large .MOV file was converted to a small .AVI file using "Bink and Smacker RAD Video Tools" - it worked!

  • Back in the day, I missed a concert of Starcastle, Styx and Yes. One serious regret. Oh well...

  • To zingflap: That would've been an excellent lineup. Reminds me of 1976: My friend and I had tickets to a concert with Triumvirat, Slade, and Peter Frampton: cancelled at the last minute due to illness. Or of 2000: my brother-in-law and I had tickets for Deep Purple, Dream Theater, and Emerson Lake & Palmer. Cancelled as we drove into the parking lot due to illness! Aaarrrgghh!!

  • I want to see the part of this show where the drunk lighting guy was throwing stuff at the band and the cops came onstage to arrest him. Those who were there know what I am talking about.

  • Yeah, a huge team of cops in riot gear came in to escort the oddball away (he looked like a street person, with his scraggly beard and rumpled clothes.) Amazingly the band played on without missing a beat as if nothing unusual was happening! A very weird occurrence.

  • eyerock- u da man!! Starcastle was AMAZING live much better than I though they could be. Thanks for posting.

    Keep them coming!

  • You are very welcome, my friend. I'm glad that there are some people who care about Starcastle. I was a big fan of theirs when in high school. I saw them at the Tower Theater near Philadelphia, twice, in the mid '70s. For one of those concerts, they opened for Gentle Giant, another great band! I feel lucky to have stumbled accross the fact that they were doing this reunion concert forty miles from where I live, and am glad I was able to attend.

  • I did catch the Dream Theater, ELP and Deep Purple show here in Minnesota. That was a good one. The Starcastle et al show was '75 or '76. Not exactly sure which. I had pneumonia, couldn't go DUE to ILLNESS! :)

  • The singer sounds incredibly like Jon Anderson, he even does the dit it dit it stuff! YES must not have known about this guy when they were busy sacking their sick singer.

  • stinkx

  • However much I do appreciate Starcastle they just sounded to much like Yes...

  • Grab a copy of their 1st album called 'Starcastle' (it's a blue sky with floating castles on clouds) & listen to how good a studio version sounds compared to this; someone's hand-held tape recorder.

    - You'll want to grab two so you'll always have another in case one gets lost or ruined, absolutely some of the most repeatedly listenable music available on CD.

    Now possibly out of print.

    Look for used copies!!

Their 2nd & 3rd albums are also must-haves, but avoid the crappy commercialized 4th!

  • @BetterTasteThanU wrote: Jon Anderson is bad enough, what's with this clown.

The only falsetto worth a damn was frankie valli.

Well, everyone is wrong at some point in life, and THIS IS YOUR TIME! - TWICE in one post!
