Rob Sims and Alphonso Smith of the Detroit Lions traded in their jerseys for an apron to lend a hand at HAP's Top Chef Academy, a free, six-week afterschool program in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan. Children ages 8 to 12 learn firsthand from professional chef Paul Penney how to prepare healthier after-school snacks.
Sims and Smith stopped by the Boys & Girls Club at the Dick and Sandy Dauch Campus in Detroit as part of the 13th Annual Hometown Huddle. Detroit is one of 32 cities to participate in this national day of community service presented by the United Way and the National Football League.
