How about we not give more power insurance giants to screw over consumers more than they already do hm?
If you expand medicare into the framework being laid by the current healthcare plan you could easily, and more importantly inexpensively, create a government-based healthcare alternative to the insurance giants (plus only US citizens could get it :D). This will naturally keep insurance premiums down and we could pay for it by letting the Bush tax cuts expire and still cut the deficit by 1/3!
