in response to using the bow on his guitar, eddie philips tried using a number of things across the strings testing the effects.souinds and even used a wood saw on stage at one gig!.
all jimmy page ever did was copy others ideas and songs!.

@willisrael29 it's quite a different thing with Page though. Whereas the stones et al would usually credit their sources Page did not. Look how he blatantly took Dazed and Confused by Jake Holmes. If that isn't wrong I don't know what is.

I love this song, it rocks. Yes you can see were the Who and Jimmy Page "borrowed" some style and technique. Just think about though, everyone from Robert Johnson all the way to Eddie Van Halen has emulated their heroes. It really doesn't matter who used the bow first, there is nothing new under the sun. What matters is whatever our rock heroes "borrowed" from their heroes they made it their own and they made us rock.

@rpsmith014 that's because Page really was a no good- google search "Yardbirds/Led Zeppelin's Dubious Recording History" and read it and tell me he's not.
-
@rpsmith014 Eddie Phillips from the creation was the first person to do it.
-
He's one of the worst students we got.

Ok. Um, I like this song. I think I like this band. But that bow solo SUCKED!
-
@paintedship Oh I realize that Page didn't do it first, I was talking about how perhaps this guitarist copied somebody else's idea, but we don't know for sure. And it's not like it's a bad thing that Page used the bow as well, but people on here act like he is some no -good thief.

@rpsmith014 look up the record release date of Making Time, the first time the creation used the bow on a record. It was early '66 long before Jimmy had touched a bow in the yardbirds. He most definitely saw the creation playing when he was in the yardbirds or at some other point and took the idea like he did with a lot of other things.

@mrJimCharles well how do you know that this guitarist was the first?

Both Townshend and Page took a lot of inspiration from these guys. They could out-Mod the Who and were totally original as to their wild sound. True originals.
