what can i make a toroid/coil out of?....i have the rest of bits but not that...
-
Can't we replace Toroid/Ferriet bead, with something else, why these things are so important for making a Joule Thief ?
-
mine doesnt if i use 1k ohms,,but if i use lower value resistor it light,,,anyone knows why???
-
mine just doesnt wanna work , can it be because of the material of the toroid ? I did it as supposed too , checked on dozens of schematics and it's correct
-
I thought the idea was to use dead batteries as low as .35 volts.
-
what the heck does this accomplish?
-
if i wanted to you lets say a 9v what do i need to change? please respond
-
is it possible to use any transistor to make joule thief? and is 22 turns of wire around the coil enough?

YES!!!!! SUCCESS!!!! i found a washer sized ferrite bead, and a bunch of different battery sizes. i used about 30 turns to get around the entire washer thing, (i dunno why it was in a broken stario they used it to stop the power wire from being pulled out kinda a waste)
anyway i hooked it upto a voltmeter and it is reading 2v on a 1.5v battery (almost dead and i couldnt get a led to light with a full 1.5) and it goes off the 600v scale for my 6v battery!!!!

Glad you got it sorted.
I think it was in the radio to filter out the mains hum.
