In the second part of the series on how to use The Smoking Gun™, chef Michael Voltaggio shows you how to use hickory wood to smoke different types and consistencies of food. The easiest way to impart a rich, smoky flavor to a food item is to fill the food item in a sealable bag.
Next, fill the chamber of The Smoking Gun™ with hickory wood. Insert the tube of the smoker into the bag and seal it as much as you can. Turn the handheld food smoker on and light it. The bag gets filled with smoke. Seal the bag containing the smoke after turning off the smoker and removing the tube. Your food gets a warm, smoky flavor.
Using this handheld food smoker, you can also smoke solid foods in a food processor. Insert the tube inside the food processor. Start smoking. The smoke fills the chamber. Grind the food to mix the food and the smoke. You can do the same for a blender to mix aromatic smoke in a soup with this smoker. You can also use the smoking gun to smoke cocktails to really mix it up. The chef shows how to smoke a margarita in a cocktail shaker.
You can even make a dramatic impact with smoke in your food presentation!
