Hopefully, a redundant video for many. Well, after all that work I made to get Kato recognized as a direct ancestor to M. Bison/Vega, there were still a lot of skeptics. So I decided to just make a direct comparison video showing the multitude of similarities between the anime incarnations of each character. Hopefully, this will show those skeptics where I'm coming from. There are more similarities between the two characters than just presented in the video.

I do not own Kato or Vega/M. Bison or any of the music presented herein. They are the creative property of Hiroshi Aramata, Kadokawa Shoten, Streamline and Capcom, respectively.

  • @danzinnyman

Yasunori Kato is the protagonist of Hiroshi Aramata's bestselling historical fantasy series TEITO MONOGATARI (TALE OF THE IMPERIAL CAPITAL). The novel was adapted into a commercially successful live action film in 1988 and this anime in 1991 (known in the US as DOOMED MEGALOPOLIS). Kato is a sorcerer who wants to destroy Tokyo to cripple the Japanese Empire. He's a popular character in Japan. You can read more about his history and his reputation on his Wiki page.

  • この二人が戦ったら、そうとうやばいことになるかも!!!!

    魔人加藤 対魔人ベガ!!!

  • His portrayal in SF4 wasn't bad, but I have to disagree about his design. I probably like his bulkier, huge chin look better. He looks more intimidating if not like Washizaki. Funny, how he looks like Kato after one too many big macs lol. I find that I'm able to rush down most fighters with Bison. I was used to Zangief around the time of SF Alpha 2 & 3, but I have a bit more difficulty with him now. He's a lot different, but I just need 2 practice more.

Actually I've seen that preference for Bison's bigger design reflected by a bunch of other fans too. Really makes me wonder why Capcom just doesn't go back to that design if its such in high demand. At least that design is more original given that his face isn't so obviously modeled off Kyusaku Shimada's (the actor who played Kato) visage. And of course he has the cape and flying powers (giving him a more mystical presence), something which slim Bison sorely lacks (in battle).

  • @aznricekracker awesome stuff I will be checking out the movie and then the anime

  • YESH!!

  • @propheci

Oh YES! Definitely! Although I don't think I'm terribly proficient with him (I still find my hands more comfortable with Ryu or Zangief), he'd certainly be my ideal character to dominate with. I'm still a little divided on how he's been treated in SFIV. Although I like his classic, slimmer design more, I prefer him to have a cape and I wish they would the player a costume option to have it in battle.

  • @aznricekracker I always felt at as if the story was incomplete somehow, you pretty much covered it then. I'll have to take a look at that Chinese manga version, then. Thanks for uploading those. As a side note, since you went thru the trouble of making this comparison video, do you play Street Fighter at all? And if you do, who's your favorite character(as if I couldn't tell by this "delicious" video...lol)?
