Nathan Rabin, head writer for A.V. Club, The Onions entertainment section, explains how pop culture offered an escape from his troubled childhood and adolescence in his memoir, The Big Rewind.
He dresses like he just escaped from Death Row. And that ain't bad!

Yet he's got the voice of a giant when he writes.

I have to skip past Rabin on the AV Club podcasts because his voice is so quiet and annoying, but I think he's a really great writer, can't get enough of his posts.

I'm reading The Big Rewind right now. It's amazing, about 3/4's way through. =]

I love that the mighty "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" was his catalyst for change. Love Rabin's writings, particularly his Year of Flops.
