In my opinion, this song being covered by Courtney makes sense: it was a testiment to her crucifixion by the media. Everyone was calling her a witch. This is why she managed to make this cover (along with almost all of Hole's other covers) work. Though she isn't the most melodic singer, or the best role model, she was willing to devote herself to her art, and wasn't afraid to show her emotions.
