@littlebay75 i think there were several reasons, first the huge noise scared the horse and may have affected his stride, in the 72 gold cup the leading horse jumps the last fence, then theres a huge roar from the crowd and the horses action goes, second if devon loch had crossed the line he would have broken golden millers record so the horse must have been pretty tired, adding this up the horse became confused and tried to jump the water

i don't know if the horse did jump anything, unless someone did see it for real. in my opinion the horse was just utterly exhausted, he doesn't walk straight and at 6.37 his knees buckle under him. he wasn't lame, he jogged away once dismounted but his legs were just too tired to do those last few strides - such a shame!
