The postal strikes that have brought Royal Mail deliveries to a halt over the last week could continue until Christmas in some parts of the country.
That's according to Oxfordshire Communication Workers Union representative Paul Garraway, who warned that he could not see the union or Royal Mail coming to terms before the end of the year.
Postal gloom looks set to get worse in Oxfordshire this week. Although workers at the Swindon sorting centre returned to work at 4am this morning, Royal Mail drivers in the area are due to strike next Monday and Tuesday.
The CWU is planning to ballot all of its 130,000 members on nationwide industrial action next week. Royal Mail has pleaded with the union to come to terms, claiming that it is dealing with an annual decline in mail volumes of 10 per cent.
