不了情 was filmed in 1961 starring 林黛 and 關山. This tragic film was directed by 陶秦, who also wrote the lyrics to the 3 songs used in the movie: 不了情, 夢, 山歌, which were all composed by different composers. The most famous of the 3 songs, 不了情, was composed by 王福齡. All three songs were sung by 顧媚, but would later also be recorded by 林黛. 不了情 would go on to be one of the most famous songs in the 1960s. Not only did 不了情 won awards for "Best Movie Song" (最佳主題歌), it was also a successful tragedy, winning 林黛 a "Best Actress" (影后), and several other awards. The recording by 紫薇 was made in 1969.

Talking more about 紫薇, her life was graceful, courageous, yet tragic like "不了情". Her singing career started in 1953, at the age of 23, when she successfully got recognized for singing 夜來香. The first song created for her was "綠島小夜曲" in 1954. Another popular song 紫薇 sang was "回想曲" in 1960. In 1958, during the Second Taiwan Strait Crisis (八二三砲戰), 紫薇 voluntarily went to the soldier's military camp and sang for them; and continuously for the next 6 years after the event, 紫薇 would visit the base camp every New Years and sing for them. In 1988, 紫薇 was given an award, however, died of sickness shortly after in 1989 at the age of 59. She had 5 students during her lifetime (as shown in the picture).
