Go to MYRIDE.COM for more car videos.Old name, new car. The Charger nameplate dates back more than 30 years and, if one applies selective memory loss to some unloved Charger-badged cars from the late '70s and '80s, represents muscle-car era performance. In most regards, the new Charger does live up to the name. It's based on the same platform used for the Dodge Magnum wagon, which is itself based on the Chrysler 300 sedan. Like these two cars, the Charger is rear-drive, has four doors and seats five. Ah, but weren't the old Chargers two-door coupes? Erm, well, yes. In an attempt to keep the heritage intact, Dodge has styled the new car to look more like a coupe. At introduction, there are three trim levels available: SE, SXT and R/T. The SE and SXT come standard with a 250-horsepower V6 engine and a five-speed automatic transmission. The SE and SXT have a similar features list, as well, which includes 17-inch wheels, antilock brakes, stability control, power windows and locks, keyless entry, air conditioning, a tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, cruise control and a CD player. Above this, the SXT has alloy wheels, an upgraded audio system, a power driver's seat and a 60/40 split-fold rear seat. For the R/T, Dodge replaces the V6 with a Hemi 5.7-liter V8 that makes 340 hp and 375 lb.-ft. of torque. The R/T also gains 18-inch wheels, heated outside mirrors, leather seats and a Boston Acoustics audio system. There's also a reasonably impressive options list for the Charger. Depending on what trim, buyers can add heated front seats, power adjustable pedals, a sunroof, a DVD-based navigation system, a rear seat video entertainment system, dual-zone climate control and a six-disc CD player with MP3 capability. If the R/T isn't enough for you, consider that Dodge will introduce two extra performance-oriented trim levels later in the year. The first is Daytona R/T, which takes the R/T trim and adds a bit more power to the V8, a firmer suspension tune, quicker steering, wider tires and thicker bolstering for the front seats. Even faster will be the Charger SRT-8. This version packs a 425-hp V8, supporting mechanical upgrades and a hood scoop. According to Dodge, the Charger SRT-8 will do zero-to-60 mph in about five seconds.

  • @yourmomluvsmyhonda auto stick is good if your pushing alot of hp somewhere between 400 and 800 hp + at the and between , so yes its not for fags like you implied , stick is funner much funner to drive as every body here agrees , and the chrysler300c hemi has the MERCEDES benz transmission meaning that there is no delay is one of the baddest trannys for street cars under 500 hp. so there you go CORRECTION, tis no FUN driving a STICK car with 650hp ITS just gonna peel out thats it... CORRECTION

  • @SuperSnake330CID lol autostick is for fags who cant drive real manual transmissions its nothing like a real manual trani as it still has a torque converter and theres noticable delay in the shifting

  • @yourmomluvsmyhonda ever heard of auto stick ?? well thats what all chargers come from 2005 factory , douche...

  • I have a dodge charger a 2006 r/t I have 50,000 miles on my car but i didn't buy it new I bought it with 43,000 miles on it and I was wondering if it was true what they say about there transmission do they go out after a certain miles I love my car so is it what they say?

  • @darktrooper2000 lol im not a ricer in fact i hate ricers, im a tuner. lol and dodge chargers never came from the factory with a true manual transmission, end of story dumbass. challengers do chargers dont. and like i said it doesnt really matter what ur running in your charger cause my integra could hand it its ass in the corners and my fzr could take it down in the straight aways. lol are you really trying to tell me you could beat a liter bike in your charger.not on pump gas atleast.

  • @yourmomluvsmyhonda I was talking about newer one two dip shit it CAN come in manual if ordered and maybe if you read my comment right i was saying a civic isnt a mans car you should go with a REAL mans car like me 73 charger and your friends car wouldnt stand a chance against either of mine i would leave you both so far behind you wouldnt see my tail lights. Also i find it cute how all you kids with civics thats thinks a cold air intake and a big muffler makes it fast get a REAL car DUMBASS!

  • @darktrooper2000 wow did you listen to what i said or has inbreeding ruined your brain? i was talking about the new charger and i mention that the charger hasnt come manual since the 70's. are your fucking retarded im talking about the new charger. lol i could bring up the fact that ive owned a turbo 240sx but it has nothing to do with the current subject newer civic si vs newer Chrger R/T.lol how bout this my fzr1000 could rape your supercharged charger from the 70's.

  • @yourmomluvsmyhonda Dont give me facts about the car i already know about it i OWN one and you ever here of custom order? guess not cause they can come manual and tht POS civic wont do shit against my 06 charger and if it magicalt did beat it still shouldnt go with a civic as a fast family car get a real mans car that still for family like my 1973 dodge charger that civic wont have a chance with it's supercharged 426 hemi.

  • @darktrooper2000 lol look at the power to wieght ratio (229hp wieghing 2,700lbs to around 340hp with 4,300+lbs) and with the si's launch control, close gear ratio, and the chargers sketchy traction control and typical dodge auto trani its basically a overhyped grandma car. and by the way they havent made a manual charger since the 70's they might have a slap shifter but it still has a torque converter so it takes forever to shift.

  • @yourmomluvsmyhonda I don't belive that you beat a r/t charger your friend probally beat a v6 version and muscle cars are real mans car and charger can be manual as well real men drive muscle cars or any AMERICAN car with real power =)
