Eydie Gorme - Eydie In Dixie-land (1959)

During the mid to late 1950's Eydie Gorme with the help of arranger and producer Don Costa put out a series of flawless albums for ABC Paramount. "Eydie In Dixie-land" from 1959 is one of my favorites. I've selected 3 of my favorite tracks from the album. Enjoy! And as the liner notes say "A warm breeze is blowing from the South, carrying with it the exciting voice of Eydie in Dixie-land."

@devorayael I just put in the DVD to see Michael J. Fox arrive in Hill Valley, in 1955. My eyes were glued to the television screen and were enormously delighted when I caught glimpse of the Eydie in Dixie-land album cover. I rewound just to see the album cover again. How exciting to see Eydie in the display glass window along with Nat Cole and Patti Paige.

I probably listened to this about 50 times by now. I can never tire of her voice and Don Costa's brilliant arranging for a dixie-land band. Now this is music... I'm so glad she and Steve released this on CD. I bought a copy for my dad for father's day. He loves dixie-land and Eydie's voice - a perfect match.

I love listening to this version of Bill Bailey...especially when the volume is turned up on my car CD player and the window is down. I want others to hear Eydie's incredible voice. Can't help myself she is my favourite singer and I'm happy to admit it!

This amazing jazz project by Eydie is now finally available on CD via the S&L webstie. I forgot how totally Gorme nailed these songs. Further testimony to her undeniable talent.
