The first part of this video is Yes jamming in the studio...very funky! Second part is Alan White and Steve Howe laying down some "Awaken". The final part is a short silent film of Steve Howe finding his inspiration.

  • Yes should have been in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame years ago. There's no credibility to the Hall of Fame when they have inducted so many crap 50's doo-wop bands and pseudo-rock like Patti Smith and ignored a ground-breaking, innovative band like Yes.

  • Great stuff. Not your typical Yes music, that's for sure.

  • Alan White is a great drummer.

  • "You've got to have the blues to sing the blues" Jon once said in some old interview... and so he just sits all the while painting. Wonder if it's the calligraphy version of Awaken lyrics?.. that ended up on some tour program, iirc ...kind'a looked like maybe, at one point, I could make out the word Awaken at the top. -Don't bogart that J!

--You can notice in that bluesy jam part the tendency Steve seems to have of not liking to just play chords.

  • First part of this video is some nice funky variations on the middle section of America. Way cool.

  • @scifiwriter98 ...and Todd Rundgren, fer Chrissakes!!! I mean, who really gives a shit, anyway?? What the fuck does it mean, you don't know you're good unless they tell you you are??

  • @curiousted Jon is probably sketching...he paints as well as does music. Recall the interview on that dvd where Alan White recalls Jon painting and singing a different song than the band was playing during the failed Paris sessions in 1979.

  • @bklyncosanostra I think if Miles and Trane were there they'd be pretty bored, I mean they were doing that stuff 10 years before LOL. But I agree, Yes are absolutely incredible, they can improvise counterpoint. That's a symbiotic band

  • What is Jon scribbling?

  • The members of Yes (past and present) are not your typical musicians.

  • @bklyncosanostra Okay, I'm a huge Yes, fan. I call my self Yesspaz, after all. But that's just a retarded thing to say. If Miles and Coltrane were sitting in here they'd blend right in like camo.

  • Rick almost sounds Patrick here
