The death of Smaug (The Hobbit - Clayton Community Theatre)

A scene from Clayton Community Theatre's production of The Hobbit, which I directed in the of Summer 2011

The video is a bit dark, so it's hard to see some of it, but you get the general idea... and a good view of the dragon ~1:10. :)

(For Hobbit purists... please know that in the play... Smaug is killed by Thorin... which differs from the book.)

Inside Smaug's Cave... Bilbo is pushed into the scene by Thorin and enters wearing the ring of power (making him invisible) and a cap he mistakenly believes is fireproof...

I was so proud of my puppeteers, who worked from behind the curtain with no view of the stage or dragon, and didn't even get their first chance to practice till tech week!
