Missions Trip to MiaoLi County part 1

A group from the English Bread of Life Church of Kaohsiung went for a weekend in the mountains, to a small aboriginal village of the Atayal tribe.

The social situation of that village is pretty hard, most of the families being split up due to the fact that parents have to go to Taichung or Taipei to work, and can't be with their children for long periods of time. The kids stay in the village with their grandparents, of which several are now dealing with health problems.

All these details come together in creating a less-than-ideal environment for the kids to develop towards a constructive future. Geographically, these villages (because there are more than one I assure you) are isolated from major centers (like TaiChung) and it is hard to provide a quality elementary and high-school education to all these children, as long as they stay there.

We were all touched by their personalities. That they be very aggressive in their habits, or very affectionate, the kids' need for a stable family unit was astonishing...

With the help of God, we will be able to do something constructive for them in the future.
