  • Calling names doesn't advance anything, but let's face it, believers are getting in the way of human advancement when they politicize their "belief" in areas where facts are needed. In addition, there is so much time and energy wasted on this issue that could be better put to use. I remain dismissive of believers. Get out of my way you have nothing to add to my life.

  • @hgeny Sorry if this comes off as blunt but its not that hard to figure this stuff out, go check out some sam harris.

pattern seeking mamals, mis-interpretation of an epiliptic fit or acid experience or MDMA or sugar high or just a general brain failuire (U may think its a religous experience), closing your eyes re-inforcing your belief over and over until u convince yourself its true (Pray)

nd teaching of comparitive religon isnt new or unique, u cud do it, easy mate, easy

  • @hgeny In college I had a professor who was 100% obsessed with Campbell. Do you know what her catch phrase was? "All myths are true". She, of course, meant this in a very very very peculiar way. The problem with her, I don't know enough about Campbell but I have good reason to think she got it from him, is that she says "religion" is not what atheists take it to be. Well do tell then, were rain dancers not expecting rain? Its futile to claim religion is completely abstract from the natural world

  • I don't call "believers" stupid, but I do call them out when they say stupid things, which is unfortunately very frequently with the fundie believers. Those same fundies call non-religious people "evil" because ad hominem attacks are all they have left to argue with, seeing how they've rejected reason and critical thinking.

  • People like Joseph Campbell understood religion. What and where the stories came from. The history and the people that wrote and made these "holy books". That is what we should teach children. To understand the myths, ideas. Not blind fate dogma. Is there anyone now like J. Campbell that has studied and teaching where religious beliefs came from. Who is carrying on his type of work?

  • I am confused. I thought believers are people that have fate in science, logic, and critical thinking. Non-believers are those stuck in dogma, superstition, blind faith in supernatural creeds. Yet this country is allowing the so called religious decide what we should be teaching children. Now that is ignorant, not intelligence. Fill the kids mind with dumb religious lies. Beware those that carry a ?holy? book, they are dangerous, mentally sick. Should not be allowed around children Or teaching.
