Two significant moves took place before this house was demolished. Of course, the occupant of the house moved, but this video documents a 2nd type of move, as well: the old gingerbread trim of the front porch is removed and installed at another old house. It still looks charming in it's new location in the South Park Historic District in Dayton, Ohio. South Park has an active, committed group of residents, activists, volunteers and investors; renovation of the 700 plus houses in the district is ongoing. South Park is one of five finalists in the National Neighborhood of the Year competition; judging is on May 22, 2008 at the annual NUSA conference in Hampton, VA.

Appreciation goes to South Park Historic District, Full Circle Development and Sutter Creek Remodeling for the fine work they do: thank you!

Music: "Number One" and part of "Moonlight" with permission from http://www.freeplaymusic.com

P.S. and near the beginning, that is the previous home-owner, Tim, singing what he says is an old Bugs Bunny ditty adapted from the days of Vaudeville!

  • might i ask: what in hell was the point of demolishing that perfectly sound and beautiful porch?

  • @wombosi Hi wombosi, 'scuze my tardy reply: the house was purchased by a large corporation and slated for demolition. Better to save the porch (reinstalled as you see at the end of this vid on another old house)....than have it disappear forever..... thx for watching :)

  • Wow, that porch piece was something else!!! That house had such amazing character. What a beautiful neighborhood that you showed. And there is that lovely porch...wow. Just beautiful. I want to live right there!! All of the homes have such incredible energy.

  • Mic, you sure were wow'd at that porch! (And rightfully so) Come on and move here, gal! We could talk about the energy here. There are 3 rivers that join here in Dayton, where Edgar Cayce received his calling, one could say. The book about him called 'There is a River' speaks of it.

Thanks, Mic; hope the voice is doing well now :)
