CAASTRO, the Centre of Excellence for All-sky Astrophysics of the Australian Research Council (ARC), is pursuing three interlinked scientific programs:

The Evolving Universe
The Dark Universe
The Dynamic Universe

Professor Brian Schmidt is based at The Australian National University (ANU) and Theme Leader of the "The Dark Universe" and determined to find out what Dark Energy and Dark Matter are - making up 96% of the cosmos.

In this video interview, Prof Schmidt introduces "The Dark Universe" theme and explains his motivation to study the ultimate fate of the cosmos, the scientific approach of this CAASTRO theme, and CAASTRO's contribution to the public awareness of this astronomical research.
