Much of the neck, lower back and knee strain many people experience is due to tightness in the pelvis, hip and upper leg regions. When one habitually tightens these muscles it becomes difficult to efficiently bend at the hip joints. As a result, simple everyday activities such as sitting and standing become difficult and effortful.
In this segment of "A.T. at Home", we will be explaining where the hip joint is located, some common habits of tightening the hips, and how to use the hip joints in a manner that allows the act of sitting and standing to be light and effortless. Please feel free to follow along with the video and try the "Alexander Technique at Home".
and where is the part mentioned that we are growing while being active ? it is about growing instead of shortening our bodies, i think. it is about THINKING, all postures and exercises are leading us to a old habit again....

@irish66 I think as long as you make sure your knees don't extend too far out over your feet it won't put too much strain on the joints, but you should ask a professional.

Really like this. It reminds me of what I learned from my AT teacher many moons ago.
Good stuff, thanks.
