Engine 14 is captured responding to a large brush fire on Chestnut Street along with several other engines. It was the Summer of 1987 and you can see that the firefighters were riding the tailboard of the apparatus. Shreveport, Louisiana

  • Listen to that 6V-53 scream!!! This is so classic!! Back in the 1970's most fire trucks sounded just like this, only most at that time had manual transmissions.

  • Sounds just like Philadelphia's Ladder 25 climbing Midvale Ave. (See "1969 Seagrave Tiller" video).

  • Our department stopped riding the tailboard in '89, so I got to appreciate it for a year!!

  • Whoa! Its been a while since I saw firefighters on the back of the truck.

  • I did this when I was a firefighter and never did like it.

  • I love the old boots they wore
