DC Universe Online - Bane - Ice/Martial Arts(Tank) Gameplay

This is the second boss area you have access to if you choose Batman as your mentor. I've done this instance quite a few times over many, many characters and haven't had it this rough, I had a few empty gear spots for some reason, so my defense was a bit low... I was taking some pretty big hits from standard attacks.

Martial Arts is a melee based weapon style, but still has some good ranged attacks. I took the new Shuriken skills before the melee based combos to try them out - the Melee tree has a few stun and AE damage combos, you can eventually get them all.

Ice is one of the Tanking power sets, it relies on high damage mitigation to survive. Many of the Ice based abilities will root, or encase your enemies, you also have access to a few defense boosts, damage reflection and abilities to cancel or reduce the effects of crowd control on you, and your group members.

Tank Role for Ice increases your defense, and toughness(reduces damage caused by other players) by 90%, however you cause 20% less damage. In PVP, you will receive a large damage boost when attacking a player in the Controller role, while also being highly resistant to their abilities. Players in the Healer role receive a large damage bonus when attacking a Tank, their abilities will negate most of your defensive abilities.

General gameplay is about the same as soloing, you'll need to use your area of effect abilities to keep threat, and help control enemies - you will also need to block and roll quite a bit more.

Hey there, is that ice form exclusive to Cryogenics?

Is it possible to make a tank like character without such ice form?

@AKImeru Yes, the ugly ice form is from the Chill(5 stacks of it) effect Cryogenics abilities put on you when used, however to make the most effective character, you will use skills from both trees and probably endup in that form at least every once and a while. That is the reason I do not like Ice.
