Kaitlyn's POV
An hour later, after we talked about families, hobbies, and just random things... Nick lifted himself up from his chair and picked up his plate. "Are you done?"
"Oh, you don't have to. I can clean up my own plate." I said standing up.
"Hey, you cleaned up this whole kitchen. The least I can do is clean your plate."
"Okay, thanks." I smiled at him, sitting back down. I heard his phone vibrate once soon after I sat down.
"Hey babe, can you get that? My hands are wet." He asked me, while cleaning the dishes.
"Yeah, sure." I walked over to his phone with my back toward Nick. My mouth dropped slightly when I saw the name on the screen: Rachel. But then, I thought maybe it's innocent. Just because he's texting his ex-girlfriend doesn't mean that he's cheating on me. I pressed the 'read' button on his phone and read the text. My mouth dropped all over again. Maybe I was wrong. The text read, 'Hey, what's your hot ass doing?' I just kept repeating it in my mind. Then I picked up the phone and held it out in front of Nick's face. He turned to look at the screen and sighed.
"Kait-"
I shook my head and dropped the phone on the counter. I turned on my heel and ran out of the house as fast as I could.
How could he do this to me, I thought. We just started going out! Is he bored with me already? I should have known that things were going too well for the two of us. Our relationship used to be based on hate, and to be honest, I really don't know what happened between now and then. But I should have known that it was too good to be true. What made me think that Nick was the one I could be happy with?

Nick's POV
I tilted my head back and faced the ceiling as I huffed loudly. "Kaitlyn!" I yelled as I finally started to move after her.
I got out of the door and a rush of cold wind hit my face. I looked to the left and saw her walking briskly down the sidewalk. I immediately ran down my driveway onto the sidewalk.
"Kaitlyn you don't understand the situation!" It seemed like whenever I got faster, to catch up to her, she did too.
"I understand it perfectly fine Nick. I think I can tell when someone is cheating on me." Her voice was barely audible because she wouldn't turn around to face me. She just walked quickly down the sidewalk with her arms crossed.
"I am not cheating on you!" I yelled to her, hoping that she would believe me. But I knew she didn't because I heard her laugh bitterly to herself.
"Look at me!" I wanted to see her face. I wasn't going to argue with the back of her head.
"No."
"Kaitlyn, stop!"
"Why should I?"
"Because I love you!" And I meant it. I started to breathe heavily as she stopped dead in her tracks. I kept walking until I was right behind her. Finally caught her.
I swear, at the exact moment that she turned to face me it started pouring rain.
That's not really a good sign right after you tell someone that you love them...
I could still see her glaring at me through the drops that were coming down fast. I couldn't really tell if she was crying or not because of the cold rain coming down, hitting our faces. But I had a pretty good guess. Neither of us really reacted to the rain considering what I just said.
