  • Thanks for the prompt reply.

What I have found is that the 60d will fire the off cam flash for a while. Then it stops as soon as I change anything eg turn on live view.

But if I turn the camera off then on again, the flash will resume firing.

However the testing procedure works all of the time.

    Go figure!

  • @johnsull23 I tried using Live View on my 5D Mk II and it did the same thing. It would not fire the flash. I don't really use Live View that's why I never noticed it. The flash will fire again though when I turn off Live View. It also works when I switch between shooting modes such as Manual, Av, Tv.

Not sure yet if it's a limitation of the transceiver or some settings that need to be changed.

  • A very good review however I can't get them to work with my 60D. Do you have to preset the camera in the Flash Menu in some way?

The testing procedure works but the camera does not seem to fire the off camera flash at all.

  • @johnsull23 These things should work out of the box without any configuration. Make sure you put a fresh set of batteries on the transceivers.

After putting fresh batteries and the flash still doesn't work, try to see if it will remotely activate the shutter on the camera. It that doesn't work double check the DIP switches inside the battery case to make sure they are set the same. Hope that helps.

  • they work with Canon 60d yeah?

  • @CRANKYONE100 Yes, they work with the 60D. I believe it's the RF-603 C1.

Maybe the manufacturers should know this inconvenient fact?

  • @TheFotopino That is good to hear, great review btw

  • @X4PLaYS As long as the flash and transceiver are level it should be OK. Kind of hokie but taping the base of the hot/cold shoe may help. Using a cheap flash also works.

You'd be surprised how tough the 580EX II is. Unfortunately, mine has already taken on fall on a hardwood floor from chest high. Still working with no issues.

  • worried about putting it on a lightstand your 580EXII will fall off, bye bye $300
