As far as the word "regime" is concerned, I was not referring to this current regime, notice how I said "regimeS". I was speaking of past regimes. And every country in the world has a regime, including republics. What people typically refer to as governments are in reality regimes. Its a political science term. It does not mean dictatorship.

@thejormungand Iranian regime? Why do you call it a regime when clearly it's a republic? Iran was at war with the Ottoman empire because Russians and Turks had stolen the land of Baghdad (Iraq) from Persia, it only lasted till 1736 so just short of 300 years.

You're missing the point entirely! They are not interested in attacking another country, their military is based around defence, it's not designed for invasion.

@Scarramanga not true. iranian regimes have invaded dozens of places since then. but since the 1700's, their last war with the ottoman empire, and before the US had been founded, they havent acted agressively at all.

they certainly have been more peaceful than the united states, and much less brutal than israel but lets not resort to hyperbole to get our points across.
