I received the awesome chance to travel to Arctic Bay, Nunavut last week. It's a small town of around 600 and it's in a very isolated but beautiful location.

Arctic Bay is the northern-most community on Baffin Island and it is also the only community in Nunavut that is connected to another community by a road.

To reach Arctic Bay we had to fly from Iqaluit to Nanisivik, and from there we drove about 30 minutes in a snow storm to Arctic Bay.

The people there are extremely friendly and they were very eager to meet me.

Enjoy!

  • Where is nunavut? I have a big map of Canada hanging on my wall, and I can't find it anywhere!

  • You may have an outdated map. Nunavut is a new territory that was named in 2000. Canada effectively divided the Northwest Territories in half, with the eastern half becoming Nunavut.

  • Hi im from Buffalo ny. Iv had a big fascination with Nunavut for a long time now. If i wanted to take a trip there what kind of a place would be the best place to stay.

  • Nunavut is a great place to visit! The Inuit culture is unlike anything else. If you want to do a tourist type thing, I suggest going to Iqaluit. There are a lot of great hotels and many different companies that will take you out on tours. What time of year are you hoping to go?

  • @sularon I heard that it became a territory on April 1st, 1999.

  • Nunavut has the least population density of people in the Canadian Territories.

  • Nunavut wasn't named in 2000, it was officially named a territory in 1999. :)

  • cover me

  • Nice song, who sing?

  • I'd love to go there, wish travel wasn't so expensive.

  • @canmoore Not THAT much lower. Sea water has 0,35% salt on average, at some places, those are 0,4%, but not much more. Water that salty freezes at some 29°F or -2°C.

  • @canmoore Not THAT much lower. Sea water of average saltiness freezes at some 29°F or -2°C. And if this is a bay, it cannot be much more salty than average. 0,4% of salt are possible (average is 0,35%) , but not exactly the 27% of the Dead Sea, which would naturally be virtually unfreezable ;) If this is a salt lake in the tundra, of course, that's another thing.

  • @NotOnlySelfLover Or because salt water freezes at lower temperatures ;)

  • Brrrrrrrrrrrr!! Cooooool vid!
