Video of a successful American oystercatcher (Haematopus palliatus) capture for research purposes. This capture is a joint effort by Rutgers researchers under Thomas Virzi, Ph. D. and members of New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife.

The oystercatcher in this video was captured, banded, measured, and released unharmed. This video is for educational purposes, depicting field techniques by a university ecology research associate. Please do not attempt to trap wildlife for recreational purposes.

Hey if you need any other types of decoys I carve them. Right now I am carving some dunlins , red necked stints ,great knots and red knots for a biologists in China . It is so cool to see some decoys in action. Is that a hand carved decoy? wow amazing I love it. Thanks for posting.
