(I had some technical issues and just decided to keep it as good enough...)
My dad Bala is famous in our family for making the best rasam. Unfortunately, his attempts to write down the recipe don't capture the complexities of rasam for those of us not used to South Indian cooking. In this video he describes not only the basic recipe, but an explanation of what to do and not to do if you don't have certain ingredients, smells and sounds to wait for, and regions of South India that alter this recipe in different ways.
It is split into 3 parts and includes summaries at the end of each section:
1 - How to make rasam powder *from scratch* (from 0:00 to approximately 5:30)
2 - How to make the rasam itself (from 5:30 to 14:10)
3 - A description of all the ingredients, and important things to note (from 14:10 to 17:00)
