I noticed that there aren't too many videos up on youtube that give you descriptive info on domesticated hedgehogs. If you have any more questions, feel free to message or comment me.

  • #3 commercial hedgehog foods are full of fillers and crap. High quality cat food and treats of mealworms, crickets or dubia roaches as well as the safe fruits and veggies

#4 you didn't mention any sort of heat set up which without can cause hibernation and death

  • This set up is NOT safe and completely unacceptable.

#1. Hedgehogs have bad eyesight and need ramps and lofts to be closed off so that they don't fall. Even a couple inches is enough to break something

#2. Wheels need to be solid as wire wheels wear down their feet causing injuries. They also need a solid wall with no spokes or anything on the opposite side. Hedgies like to look and see how far they have run and the spokes on the side have cut their faces and damaged their eyes.

  • nice video and all but next time dont have the music in... its REALLY distracting... but thx for the tips :)

  • The top comments are the exact same (unless this becomes a top comment).

  • I heard your suppose to have wheels with no holes in them or there feet get stuck:/ i might get a hedgehog too :)

  • Hey, just a heads up...African pygmy hedgehogs have pretty poor eyesight and tend to fall a lot because of it. Most experts and breeders recommend that if you have a ramp or a second level in your cage that you enclose it somehow so the hedgie can't fall.

  • im gettin 1 tommora cant wait, any tips ? please thx :)

  • @dreamera1 They eat fruits and veggies too!

  • Hedgehogs aren't actually meant to be fed cat food, they are given that because people think the jelly is like the consistancy is the same as slugs...but they only eat slugs as a last resort.

  • i want one=0
