very simply, they are still a tv network that needs ratings and i imagine they do better with an ocassional recent film starring tom hanks as opposed to something from the 40s that far fewer people have heard of. not that it makes it right but still

The song evokes sadness for the loss we feel for the people we don't know personally, but, who have given us much in their craft. I think you need more time in theaters with the people we morn an now remember.
