Every behavioral characteristics you disperse is due to what you have experienced. Even down to ever single word you say. So... what about this soul thing?... Where does it come in?
Speaking about the role the brain plays vs it's structure are two different things. We can choose to talk about one at a time since the structure of a brain is very complex. Besides, i don't understand what the structure of a brain has to do with this thing called 'Soul'. You don't "form" a personality, you gain it, depending on the information received by the brain. And i mean info as in experiences... everything is due to experience as far as the human mind goes.
Let's say I grant that the brain is the source of experience, then aren't you neglecting the role played by it's structure and organization in the formation of personality? The idea that the mind is a blank slate written upon by experience isn't taken seriously by most psychologists.
I don't think you make experience a wit more intelligible by replacing my spiritual metaphors with computer metaphors. What is information, neurally speaking?
2. Environment does shape your personality 100%. This is why people all around the world act different, purely because they grew up in different environments.
3. A soul is not a precondition for any knowledge, and no, you don't gain knowledge from having a soul. You gain knowledge but processing the right information into your brain, via reading books and so on.
4. No, i have never experienced a soul, so i have no idea what it is.
Environment does shape personality, but with no intrinsic desire to become personable, no amount of environmental molding would be effective in producing a personality.
The two aspects of reality, the physical and psychical, are not both visible. Scientific concepts like space and time are invisible, but that doesn't make them invalid.
I know I have a soul because a soul is the precondition for any knowledge at all. A mere physical object lacking a soul has no way of gaining knowledge.
My bad! You're speaking metaphorically, so am not am not sure what you really mean :S. Not trying to chastise you, you sounded like a smart kid in the video, so i thought i'd leave a comment ;) - Never mind.
Wrong. You develop a personality depending on which environment you grow up in. Your brain makes all the decisions. Have you ever seen a soul? Of course not. So, how exactly do you know you have a soul?... could it be because you read it in some 2000 year old book?... No offense, just asking :)
no, the brain is another part of nature. The soul is what gives it personality. I speak metaphorically here. I'm not talking about some immaterial substance controlling the body from outside. I'm just trying to point out the importance of seeing the double aspect of your body: it has an exterior, physical aspect and an interior psychological aspect. You cannot reduce one to the other without absurdity.

If my third sentence didn't make sense... i meant to say 'You gain knowledge *by*', not 'but'

The soul is not something I believe in, it is something I directly experience. So do you, or you wouldn't be having this conversation with me.
