  • this reminds me of the second movement of Aram khachaturians Violin Concerto like at 2:24........

  • Raklin gives a good reading, though not the best, of this gargantuan work. One of the great 20th century symphonies that sadly is hardly ever performed; due to its length & size. I have to wonder also why he chose the tuba over the contra in this recording. In my opinion, the contra definitely has a much more sinister effect . Thank you for posting this!

  • i think the tuba adds flair and dynamics the contra basson doesnt have on its on the emphasis the tuba gives is nicer in my opinion

  • why is a tuba doubeling the contra-bassoon in the begining??it's nicer without a tuba
