Awful tape...but she's great! so graceful!
-
can someone please give me more information on this Thillana - ragam and talam?
-
She explains how she feels certain Karanas actually FOLLOW on from each other in a sequence so producing a dance unit or ADAVU kind of movement.
Very interesting POV.The authorities, however, felt she couldn't call her style Bharata NATYAM as her ideas would conflict with known tradition but decided NRTYAM was acceptable.
If anyone knows if or where this set of programmes is available from, please tell us all as they were very interesting viewing. From about 10 years ago.

A reliable source, a set of programmes for Indian TV, which I've not managed to get hold of yet, explains Padma-ji's efforts to uncover the meanings of the Karanas or dance positions in both Chidambaram & Thanjavur Temples in Tamil Nadu, South India.

Some of her videos you saw were in the style of Padma Subramanyam ji, B. Nrittyam as against B.Natyam hence the difference I believe.
how old this video is ??? its seems as if its a vintage collection so far

I have quite a lot of Indian music & dancing from UK television of the 1980s & 90s which would never be seen again if I didn't share them here on youtube.
