My goal with slide playing is to realize my own voice, and for it to be one with, if not unlimited choice, than at least multiple choices available to me. I personally find slide in standard tuning to be most conducive to this, as it's a world that still may have some unmapped places, and I find myself making less derivative choices than when I'm in open tuning.

This video is an overview of the techniques I use and that I teach.

  • Thanks Shaun, what kind of slide are you using? is there a make and model identical I can try? KP

  • @kennythekoyote I like the pyrex dunlop ones. Size 211. They're narrow enough to fit tightly on my finger and I like the sound of the thick 'glass'.

  • Thanks for the lesson Shaun, always a pleasure to hear you play; even better when you break it down for us ;-)
