The IBM i (iSeries and AS/400) includes the security architecture required to meet the stringent requirements of the US Department of Defense, and has earned the appropriate D.O.D. Security Certifications that make it a trusted computing platform.

In 1982, IBM provided security recommendations to the software vendor community that were in line with best practices for that time. However, computer and networking technology have advanced dramatically since 1982, but we still reply on those 1982 recommendations to secure our system and sensitive database.

Since 1982, personal computers and advanced networking technologies have caused the 1982 security scheme to become obsolete and insecure.

Security Expert Dan Riehl of SecureMyi.com presents this short tutorial video to address the pitfalls of relying on the 1982 security scheme, and introduces tips on how you can update your security scheme to better protect your system and database for the IBM Power System running the IBM i operating system.
