Catching 30+ Garter Snakes in 20 min?!

My good friend Alex and I went on a herping trip to Deas Island Regional Park and ended up catching 38 garter snakes! All the snakes we caught were released unharmed

@mrsnakelover101 ..just because someone is young they cant herp?....why dont u just let kids have fun and learn about snakes....wouldnt u rather have them catching snakes than killing them?....youre a snake lover..im ssure you were young when u started and thats the way anyone starts to herp...dont u agree?

@TheCurtisdean Oh, thanks, Deas Island is full of garters. I don't know any place where there are not snakes there. If you stay by the river you will find a main trail that goes for for about a mile, all around the sides of the path the ground just crawling with them, but I've found just as many in the grassy patches around the parking lot. Do you live in BC too? rubber boas?? I have been looking for one forever!! where is the shuswap?

@AJherps OK once spring hits Ill go look there. I had a lot of success finding emerging garters last April at a farm with lots of habitat out in Langley/Aldergrove. I live in Surrey BC. I do like to go herping but I dont have a lot of free time on my hands. Ive never seen BC snakes except for garters and rubber boa, Ive even spent time in the desert and never seen a rattler! Shuswap is up near Kamloops, the boa was in Adams River Provincial Park, under some bark in Adams Canyon

@TheCurtisdean That's awesome man, I can only imagine what the place will be like this spring! I know a couple good rubber boa locations near creston BC, hopefully I can find one this summer and post a video!
