Filmed by Sherief Hassan, and supported by FREdome, this is a record of a visit to the home of lay ecologist Harry Hart in 2008. Harry was an early inspiration for us to believe that trees can make it rain. He wanted to see the "storehouse of CO2" in the atmosphere converted from inorganic carbon back into plant life. Harry and his group Global Eco started to research the effects of tree planting on deserts in the 1970's. He inspired people like Craig Embleton of the Green Frontier, and our project Operation OASIS. Sadly Harry died in 2011 aged 80, but his ideas inspired a new generation. Find out more about Operation OASIS at our project blog: http://fredome.wordpress.com

  • Great video.

I'm glad I had the privilege of meeting Harry.

  • Nice to see my vid up on YouTube! It was a good day filming Harry with the kids. His work continues with the team at Operation OASIS.
