The Woody Guthrie song on which this is based is actually called "New York Town".

I think the backing music is fun. A different take. It's too bad his vocals are too distorted to listen to for long though.

It is a change to see Loudon with big band backing. Interesting, and of course, amusing

I first saw Loudon back in the mid 70's. I thought he was a really deep and sensitive songwriter and performer. I dug him! As his career progressed however, he seems to have traded these distinguishing values for a cheap stab at comedy. For me, it don't work. I saw him about 12 years ago in Wolverhampton, and he single handedly killed off the love and respect I'd built up for him over the years. Occasionally I listen to his first albums. Thats all.

@jmercaldo can't disagree with you there

@thewarwicktube It is a masterpiece, just a horrible recording!

What's with the audience?

evidently i am the only one who thinks this is a goddamn masterpiece.

He must have gone mad.
Seriously, what the hell is this??
Loudon Wainwrights Lonely Hearts Club Band?
First of all they're drowning him out. Most songs are much more enjoyable with just him, his guitar, and maybe a small string band.
