The "organism" is activated by blowing into a hose. I think of it as a sculpture that connects with the lungs of the user, becoming one big breathing organism. The air pressure produced by the user is measured and amplified, so that the organism is fully extended after 5-10 deep breaths. The organism also reacts by changing colour and sound.
If you keep breathing, the "dream world" is faded onto the big main bulb of the organism. There you see more evolved organisms, breathing in closed systems, extending their own bodies through respiration. There is sort of a confrontation between two of these characters, where primitive emotions come into play.
The Organism was made by artist Matti Kallioinen and engineers Eric Sjödin and David Kjelkerud. Sewing by Camilla Ed. It was shown at the "Man Machine 2" exhibition at the Museum of Science and Technology, Stockholm.
