Durbin, West Virginia is a nice place to spend a few days, as I discovered in June 2002. In addition to the beautiful scenery and the many outdoor recreational opportunities, you can enjoy four fun and unique retro rail experiences. One of them is a trip over the West Virginia Central RR to Spruce on the Cheat Mountain Salamander. While the exact service shown here is not available in 2010, you can still travel in style and comfort over this very scenic line. I highly recommend it.

  • That car is for sale now it's about $175,000 I think.

  • @LycoValleyRRFan Well, I'm sorry to hear that. That was a special experience. Seems like it would be useful for charters, but I'm sure they've thought it through. Hope it finds another good home.

  • I spent 3 days in Durbin in the summer of 2009 and had a great time.

  • @DJHOGHEAD Thank you for that comment. I'm glad to know that at least one other person agrees with me (:-)).
