We're going over a lot today. Sit back and listen to what's going on with all three comets and now asteroid 2005 YU-55. I also talk a little about mobile and permanent telescopes. I also cover Dutch's videos and my opinion which I have stated in comments on his channel.

I like Dutch. I just don't like the space reports so much.

  • Thanks for your vid. Question as per viewability of Elenin in accordance with the sun. Several days ago STEREO B would have to, as it did, "roll" in order to capture an immage, but in the upcomming days and for about a week it will be all but impossible for S/B to view the sun without seeing ELE even without any "roll", correct ? Also, in the past few days durring a "roll", an immage of ELE from S/B would show a tail with the sun to the east of ELE, correct? Just asking, thanks.

  • @poadmoon1 No.. The Sun is not East of Ele. The Sun is behind the satellite. The Satellite had to turn 140 degrees. 180 degrees is half a circle. You cannot see the Sun from the Satellite. That is Saturn. Saturn is 74,000 miles wide. The coma of the comet is only the size of Saturn. ~ F. That was my interpretation of it yesterday when I reexamined the images from NASA.

  • @ThePerfectMinds Ok , I'm confused,. I've always viewed the sun from STEREO B, but yes, "they" made a 135 degree turn on the initial view. But absolutely, the sun isn't east of ELE, I was suggesting that pertaining to the view that would be captured from S/B it might appear that way. In a few days in should be in direct view without any "roll" whatsoever. I'll keep a watch as always , and try to see things as you described.

    Thanks !

  • @poadmoon1 The satellites will be able to see comet Elenin without turning because Elenin will be flying in front of the Sun. I'm sorry if my last post was confusing. I was interpreting the question wrong I think. ~ F.

  • July 5th, thanks for the up to date info... not

  • @MrDuggem I only do one take. I need to go back and correct with annotations. I don't plan on pleasing everyone but I do plan on getting better. It is what it is. ~ F.

  • I fast forwarded to where you are talking about the asteroid 2005 YU55. You said "And the moon is up during the day and it is daytime." That never happens! The full moon always appears at sunset and sets at sunrise, no matter where you are on this planet, because they are on opposite sides of Earth, during a full moon. (That was at 25:39 into this). Do you not understand what causes a full moon?

  • rev. 8:8-11 & 18:21?

  • I wish I could listen to that marker sound without dying..it is exactly like nails on a chalkboard for me..this looks good, too :/

  • Is it possible that the mass estimated for YU-55 is underestimated ?

  • I'm very impressed...& very well done

  • 5.145° to the ecliptic ~ between 18.29° and 28.58° to Earth's equator

  • Thanks for your information it is helpful. I watched Dutch's video on Elenin and it was reported from spaceobs site. So with that do you have a particular site you trust? NASA Spaceobs etc...
