Turkey-Iraq tensions increase

All diplomatic routes are open to ensure that Turkey holds off from invading Iraq alone, the White House said on Monday, amid thinning patience from Turkey after the weekend killings of at least 12 of its soldiers by Kurds in Iraq.
Eight Turkish soldiers are still missing following the Kurdish ambush on Sunday, the Turkish military's general staff said Monday, with a pro-Kurdish news agency reporting the eight were captured.
As Turkish military vehicles loaded with artillery and more soldiers lumbered towards the Turkey-Iraq border on Monday, U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack continued to urge restraint. The U.S. would administer a diplomatic "full court press," he said.
