With only two left flying, the Avro Lancaster is among the rarest of the rare of World War II aircraft. AVweb recently toured one when it appeared at Oshkosh.

  • Ihave seen the Lanc based in the UK fly many times and it always sends a shiver down the spine. 4 Merlins on full chat is just ..wow! Its right that the Canadians fly the other Lanc as I believe they built most of the Lancs used in the war. Mostly all flown to the UK by women Air Transport pilots as well but thats another heroic story often forgotten. Nice vid and thanks.

  • @crazy9catears thankyou and its amazing what you here these days about the past and i would put them on youtube or send u them on different tapes but unfortunatly i cant get them but will have to try lol and my grandad was 71 when he died.

  • thanks guys.good job.just love to hear this plane and really appreciate getting to see it.esp thanks to rcaf man.

  • @poss71 That old bloke happens to be the senior lancaster pilot for the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum based in Hamilton Ontario Canada who painstakingly restored this aircraft to flying condition. He is also a retired senior Captain B747 Air Canada so he probably knows a few more things about flying than you do.

  • 22,000 lb bomb...wow!

  • this plane in Thunder Bay,Ontario today...

  • @TransformersAKA yeah my grandfather passed away some years ago now,but he did tell me some great story...he also got taken on a lancaster for his 70th birthday..some years ago now...wow them films of yours, well in your family would be great to see....cheers

  • my grandfather was a navegator on this plane in ww11,there are two in the u.k,both are grounded at the minute, 1 million pounds has just be donated to make both lancs fly again..1 of the lancaster was ment to do a fly over on 09/05/2010 at warboys cambridgeshire england, but it had engine trouble,so a dc3-datoka done a fly pass instead...hopefully the lancaster will make it next year!!
