  • This airplane is now painted in a different paint scheme. I'm thinking the name is 909.

  • @Auggie56 Yea, could be...this is fairly old video...at least 5 or 6 years

  • The props off is brilliant! Jets now, but I love the old props. My uncle was LTC 464th heavy bombardment groups ops commander, Italy, 15th USAAF. This is nice to see. She is an old girl indeed. Love it.

  • @kingfisher76971 - nothing stirs the soul like the sound and feel of those powerful props

  • I wish I could find someplace that offers "rides" on a B-24. My uncle was a gunner. I know he'd like one more trip on that durable plane that saved his life so many times.

He said the German fighter planes would come so close to his plane he could see the expressions on the pilots faces.

  • If you can find an airshow this summer that is featuring a B-24, they may offer rides. I know this one did.

  • @jjtopp99 I want to thank everyone for their suggestions. Unfortunatly, my uncle died right before his 86th birthday. We had talked about finding an air show and visiting it on his birthday but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Thanks everyone and God bless the wonderful B24 for taking care of my uncle so he could come home to his family.

  • @TomatoeAssassin The Collings Foundation offers flights on B24 "Tondelayo" at the air shows they attend. They have a B17 and a couple other bombers. Cost $400, but well worth it. Good Luck.

  • My great grandfather use to be a bomberdier and tailgunner on that thing in the pacific when they were clearing out for the 1st division landing zone

  • I was a B-24 pilot during WWII and the color of this B-24 was to meke it difficult to see in the desert.. I have some You tube site and look for cfoot if interested

  • @TomatoeAssassin Just go to the COLLINS FOUNDATION website and click on : "TOUR SCHEDULES" I have taken rides in a B-17G (nicknamed "Nine 0 Nine") and a B-24J (nicknamed "Witchcraft"). Both of these aircraft are sponsored by the Collins Foundation. A 30 minute ride costs $495 (unless the price has gone up?). Part of that cost is tax deductible if I recall correctly.

  • my call of duty 2 big red one cd break:((

  • Is it true that they were originally designed as water planes? But then they found out they we not waterproof, so they decided to make bombers out of 'm and put some landing gear under it?

  • @Auggie56 the name is ol'927 now
